2009 Audi A1

The 2009 Audi A1 is a sub compact vehicle that is based on the Volkswagen Golf IV PQ34 platform. Not much larger than the Audi A3, the A1 is designed for those on a budget. Using this platform allows for cheaper production costs, and using cheaper substitutes (such as steel for aluminum) allows the base price range of this vehicle to fall to around $16,000-$20,000. The most popular version of this car is the Sportsback, a variation shown in several car shows.

The first A1 is expected to appear on the market late 2009, being produced in the Brussels Plant. The A1 is being produced to replace the now discontinued A2, and is built for those on a budget. There have been rumors of a Quatro version, but due to the high cost of the Quatro, its seems counter intuitive to the original “budget car” goal. For those interested, Quatro is a drive train that allows the front 2 wheels to be operated by the regular gas engine and the rear wheels to be operated by an electric motor separately or in conjunction, to maximize driving power and efficiency. Do not let its low price tag fool you however, after looking at the pictures below you will see that this car certainly does not look cheap and has a wide range of variations to suit any driver.
